Windy with a chance of storms for Houston this weekend; Here’s how it looks

HOUSTON – It has been breezy this Thursday with cloudy, overcast skies for most of the day.

This should continue as we head into the weekend with some rain chances developing toward the latter half of the weekend.

There could be a few storms on Friday, but the chances are on the low side right now.

The cloudy, overcast skies will continue into Friday. There is a low chance, approximately 30 percent right now, that someone in the area may see a shower or thunderstorm. Not an overly high chance, but someone could still get wet tomorrow.

The bigger story on Friday and heading into the weekend will be the strong southerly wind gusts. Sustained winds Friday afternoon will be at or near 20 mph with higher gusts. These strong winds will continue into the weekend.

The weekend

We should stay rain-free Saturday and may even see a little more sun than we have been seeing the past few days, although clouds will still be in the area.

Our next rain maker looks to arrive Sunday as a storm system starts to move into the area.

By dinnertime Sunday, we should see a pretty good amount of soaking rains developing across the area. The rainfall associated with these storms could be quite heavy and there is a possibility some of the storms could be on the stronger side. We will know more as we get closer.

Rainfall chances look to stick around at least until the middle part of next week. The storm system responsible for the rain chances will take its time to get out of here which will mean recurring rain chances through early Wednesday. Sunday and Monday look to be the days with the greatest chances for rain at this time.

Overall, we have a slight chance of rainfall in the area on Friday. Breezy conditions will be present throughout the weekend.

Saturday, Houston will remain rain-free.

Rain chances ramp up on Sunday and into the early part of next week. Some of the storms could be on the stronger side with heavy rainfall. We will be able to pinpoint if there will be a threat of severe weather in the Houston area as we get closer.
